Technical Consultancy: Canadian Oil Refinery

CHALLENGE

An independent Canadian refinery required continuous on-site presence from experienced refinery process engineers to assist with troubleshooting, optimisation and plant development during a period of organisational change.

SOLUTION

InSite Technical Services set up a rotational schedule involving four process engineers, each with more than fifteen years’ experience. This provided continuous coverage over a seven month period.

InSite invested time and effort in training and developing the young engineers to enable them to manage the operation after InSite’s on-site presence ended.

OUTCOME

  • Experienced oversight of the refinery operation from InSite gave management confidence during a period of organisational change.
  • InSite used their diverse experience to assist with a turnaround readiness review, greenhouse gas reduction review, process safety, corrosion and materials discussions.
  • InSite also provided remote support by e-mail and telephone after departure from site.
