Refinery SIS Upgrade

CHALLENGE

An oil refinery based in the United Kingdom required support in order to upgrade existing Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) to ensure the system fully complies with critical instrument standards including BS EN 61511.

SOLUTION

InSite Technical Services assembled a multi-discipline team to execute the basic engineering scope, resulting in a +/-30% cost estimate. 

OUTCOME

The team assembled were highly competent in functional safety, and ensured the design followed the lifecycle specified in BS EN 61511. Deliverables included a Safety Requirements Specification and Functional Safety Assessments.  These ensured that the Risk Reduction Factor targets and other SIL requirements were achieved.
